On 3-5 March 2024, our Lab participated in the 2024 Multi-Institutional Prostate Cancer Program Retreat at the Luskin Center, UCLA, Los Angeles.
This retreat focused on advancements in Prostate Cancer research funded by the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) program. SPORE programs bring together researchers from different institutions to accelerate progress against specific cancers, including prostate cancer. The ultimate goal of the SPORE program is to translate promising research findings into new and effective patient treatments.
Dr. Pier Vitale Nuzzo represented the Loda lab at the retreat and presented a talk titled "Targeting de novo lipogenesis synergizes with androgen receptor inhibitors in castration-resistant prostate cancer." In his talk, Dr. Nuzzo highlighted the preliminary data behind the ongoing Phase I clinical trial investigating lipid metabolism inhibition in prostate cancer.
The retreat provided a valuable platform for our Lab to connect with collaborators within the SPORE program. We gained valuable insights about ongoing research projects, fostered new ideas for collaboration, and interacted with patient advocacy representatives.
