Dr. Nuzzo Honored with International Award

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Pier Vitale Nuzzo, originally from the small town of Marittima in Puglia, southern Italy, has been awarded the esteemed "Pugliesi nel Mondo" International Prize. This prestigious recognition celebrates the excellence of individuals of Apulian origin who have brought prestige to Puglia through their exceptional contributions in their fields of expertise.

The XIV edition of the award ceremony took place on November 23, 2024, in Foggia at the historic Teatro Umberto Giordano. The event, organized by the International Association "Pugliesi nel Mondo" under the leadership of President Giuseppe Cuscito, brought together Apulian talents from all over the world, representing fields such as medicine, science, culture, entrepreneurship, and the arts.

Dr. Nuzzo, currently an Instructor in Medicine and Pathology at Weill Cornell Medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Massimo Loda, left his hometown seven years ago to pursue groundbreaking cancer research in the United States. He was honored for his significant contributions to the field, which have advanced our understanding of cancer and its treatment.

This extraordinary event highlighted the pride of Apulian heritage and the global impact of its people, making Dr. Nuzzo’s accomplishment a moment of great honor for Marittima. The town was proudly represented by the mayor of Diso, Salvatore Coluccia, and his delegates, further underscoring the strong connection to the broader Apulian community.
